Steven Universe is a modern cartoon that has a lot of songs, but songs that are actually enjoyable to listen to! With a soundtrack on the rise, it must have good music. This is a cartoon with great songs, but which do I think are the best?

10. I Could Never Be Ready

A slow and somber song in which Greg has to come to terms with Rose being gone, and that he’s going to be a single father to Steven. You can hear how he tries to be happy, but he still misses Rose.

9. I Think I Need a Little (Change)

Another Greg song, in another flashback episode, but this one is on a much more pleasant topic. It shows that Greg is devoted to Rose, although he can’t stay that way, as he needs to eat where as the Crystal Gems don’t. It’s just an upbeat song about true love.

8. Strong in The Real Way

This song is split into two halves, one is Pearl and the other is Steven. Pearl is jealous that Steven is looking up to the unstable fusion of Garnet and Amethyst, Sugilite, rather than her. She describes that you don’t only need physical power to be strong. Steven’s part has him being a gym instructor to some friends, and using the same lyrics, but with the wrong interpretation of what the lyrics meant.

7. Still Not Giving Up

This is a much lesser known song, as it was only played in a short. It has Steven getting all his pent up feelings about his mom and all the other insane events that have been happening in his life. He starts crying halfway through, because he knew that, even if he wanted to, he couldn’t give up.

6. Something Entirely New

In the episode “The Answer” we got Garnet’s origin story. We also got a great and heartfelt song between Ruby and Sapphire. They were strangers who are now exiled from everything they know, and the only other people they can confide in are each other.

5. Do it For Her

In this duet between Pearl and Connie, Pearl is teaching Connie how to sword fight. She eventually gets continuously more intense on what Connie should do to protect Steven, saying she should die to protect Steven, bringing up points that she would’ve for Rose.

4. Stronger Than You

This was the pivotal song of Season One, when Garnet reformed, and it is amazing. It has a certain feel that makes Garnet feel unstoppable. Not to mention she easily defeats Jasper, who destroyed her before, which makes the song that much more satisfying.

3. Here Comes a Thought

Another song with Garnet, she tries to help Steven and Connie’s fusion Stevonnie find herself. Not only does this song help in real life, for those who are self conscious, but this was also the first time a guest animator had been brought in on Steven Universe, and is still the only time to date.

2. What’s the Use of Feeling, Blue?

The most recent song on the list, it is sung by Yellow Diamond, trying to make Blue Diamond get out of her depression over Pink Diamond’s death. This has a direct parallel to Pearl who is depressed over Rose’s death, but in this song Yellow Diamond demands authority. You can feel the power in her voice, and it draws all attention to her. The song shows that although Yellow Diamond is still saddened by Pink Diamond’s death, she doesn’t let it destroy her. It makes the perfect finale to the fifth Steven bomb.

1. It’s Over, Isn’t it?

This is the most depressing, yet realistic, song in Steven Universe to date. Pearl hasn’t coped with Rose being gone. The show always revealed that about Pearl, but in this song, she reveals how she blames Greg and how she wants to move on but can’t. This is how depression over a lost one can feel, like you’re trapped with them. The beautiful piano also ties around the beautiful singing. And until the end of the song, Pearl is holding, you guessed it, a rose.
