Avengers: Infinity War was the biggest movie crossover ever, and the cliff hanger it ended has left everyone wondering on how it would be followed up. Now the first trailer for the next Avengers movie, Avengers Endgame, has shown a bleak world that doesn’t know what to do. So, what were the most important parts of this trailer?

9. Shuri died in the snap

In a blink and you’ll miss it moment, when Bruce Banner is looking at a screen of the presumed missing Scott Lang, you can also see a headshot of Shuri in the background. This implies that Shuri, the smartest person in the MCU, wont be around to fight Thanos yet again.

8. Depressed Avengers

The fact that Thanos won at the end of Infinity War has had some serious effects on the Avengers, as they all seem defeated and depressed in this bleak new world they have to live in. It doesn’t help that friends, family, and teammates have been taken from them all by Thanos, and that if they couldn’t beat him before, they’ll have a much harder chance with less of them.

7. Peaceful Thanos

In contrast to the depression that the Avengers have to deal with, Thanos is still on his farm from the end of Infinity War, and has hung up his armor for a now peaceful life. A different shot shows him walking through a field of flowers, finally at peace now that he has accomplished his goal, and “saved” the universe.

6. Nebula and Iron Man in space

The ending of Infinity War left Nebula and Iron Man the only ones left on Titan, and the trailer shows the two not doing well. They’re drifting through space in a ship that seems to be in poor conditions, with no real hope of being able to make it back to Earth. However, if they end up meeting with a certain Captain out in space, that could help bring all of our heroes back together.

5. Post-Snap World

The fact that Thanos succeeded during Infinity War has forever changed the world. Whether it’s the depression the Avengers are facing, or the lack of hope, the world seems much darker, and nowhere near the same as when we first were introduced to it in Iron Man back in 2008.

4. The Avenger’s Last Ditch Effort

“I know it is, cause I don’t know what I’m gonna do if it doesn’t.” These are the words Captain America say when told the plan will work by Black Widow. We don’t know what this plan is, but it’s likely the plan to defeat Thanos. However, it’s unlikely that any plan will succeed, and so while Captain America may say he won’t know what to do, we’ve seen he’ll sacrifice himself for the greater good in a heartbeat if he needs to.

3. Iron Man is Dying

As previously mentioned, Iron Man is trapped in space with Nebula. However, as he isn’t a cyborg, he’s dying after having run out of food and water, and soon oxygen. He takes some of his time to record a video Pepper through his helmet, and it shows how he truly thinks this is the end. Even if he manages to escape, which he most likely will, he won’t be the strongest after having to deal with such harsh conditions for so long.

2. Ronin

Hawkeye was noticeably absent from Infinity War, and that was due to him being on house arrest. However, in the trailer, when Captain America says “We lost family,” it shows Ronin, which shows that Hawkeye’s family must have been victims of the snap. We see Ronin is somewhere in Asia, and Black Widow finds him after he’s taken out multiple people, presumably criminals. This change of Hawkeye to Ronin truly shows how this new world has affected some people, and having Hawkeye no more, with the much more serious seeming Ronin in his place.

1. Ant-Man escaped the Quantum Realm

The biggest moment of the trailer comes at the end though, when we see that Scott Lang has escaped the Quantum Realm, where he was trapped during the post-credits scene of Ant-Man and the Wasp. It seems most likely that Scott escaped using a time bubble, something that was mentioned in Ant-Man and the Wasp, which allowed him to escape, and travel through time to reunite with the Avengers. This will most likely be the basis of how the Avengers take out Thanos, with a time-travel battle that could change the MCU as we know it.
