The last few episodes of Steven Universe have focused on different citizens of Beach City, but the first of these four new episodes was focused more on Lars. Well, in the final of the four episodes released today, both of these things get combined, as Steven updates Lars on Beach City.

Story (SPOILERS)

To end our four new episodes, we go back to Lars up in space. Steven has sent him a letter helping to detail everything that’s changed in Beach City since he’s left. The Big Donut is still closed, and the new mayor is getting everybody’s opinions on what to do in case of another gem crisis. The scene changes to Sadie Killer and the Suspects preparing for another show. We also get to see how Jamie has made the Beach City Improv Group. Greg has also bought tennis stuff, and plays it with Garnet. Steven also updates Lars on the Beach City wrestling scene, and that Peedee has a food truck of his own. However in all of these scenes, the former mayor Dewey can be seen screwing up and not fitting in. But Steven gets the idea for Dewey to work at the Big Donut, which works out for everybody. Then we see that Steven has been reading the letter to Lars the whole time, which makes both of them happy.

Presentation

Just like last episode, there’s nothing to visually different about this episode. However, we do get to see all of the different locations we’ve grown to leave in Beach City. There’s also a continuing trend of Dewey messing things up, but ends up finally finding his place where somebody was needed.

Final Thoughts

This is another Steven Universe episode that shows some real characters growth, even on the characters that the episode didn’t focus on. We also see Steven’s and Lars’s relationship grow, with Steven making sure to keep Lars up to date on what’s happening back home.

7/10
