The third of these five episodes to save Greg shows the Gems boarding the Human Zoo. Not only do we learn about the zoo, but we also see new gems that have never been shown in the series.

Story

The gems board the Human Zoo, but need a way to sneak in. Garnet unfuses into Ruby and Sapphire, who are delivering Steven as a mission from Blue Diamond. Amethyst and Ruby are the protection for Sapphire, while Pearl is considered Sapphire’s own personal one. However, Amethyst has to stay with two other Amethysts who are guarding the door.

When the gems get inside, they are greeted by Holly Blue Agate, a never before seen gem on the show. She takes the crew along a tour of the facilities, but she gets news that Blue Diamond is on her way back to the Zoo. This prompts her to put Steven into the Zoo, where he sees his dad.

Animation

The animation was similar to the previous two episodes, however in Gem Heist we get to see an entirely new gem, and many different Amethysts, compared to the one we normally see.

Final Thoughts

9/10

The episode is interesting as it splits up all of our main characters, while also showing how Homeworld Gems normally are treated depending on what gem you are. It also has many genuinely funny scenes and jokes. We also get to see Ruby and Sapphire, which is a very rare occasion.

Pros

  • Seeing Ruby and Sapphire
  • Seeing new and different gems
  • The comedy

Cons

  • Ends on a cliffhanger
