At this point, we’ve seen how Steven has reacted to both the loss of Connie and Lapis. However, we haven’t seen how Peridot has been able to deal with this loss. So, how has she adapted to her new situation, and moving back into the bathroom.

Story (SPOILERS)

After Lapis took the barn and left the Earth, Peridot has been a wreck. She moved back into Steven’s bathroom, and wouldn’t leave. However, Steven and Amethyst decide to give Peridot a new place to live, that place being in the Kindergarten. Once they get there, they all see one flower growing. Inspired by this flower, they take sunflowers from the barn’s area, and start planting them. After a day of work they head home. The next day they visit the Kindergarten, and all the flowers except for the original had died. Peridot angrily stomped on the flower, revealing it to be a corrupted gem. After Smokey Quartz came in to save the day, the group went back home. On the train ride back, we see Peridot admitting the reasons why she’s been miserable, and shares a touching moment with Steven and Amethyst being there for her.

Presentation

Another episode, another scene change. This time, it’s a revisit to the Kindergarten, and it looks as bleak as ever. However, it is a good visual representation of Peridot’s current emotional state. This is also evidenced by how the flowers grow at first, and then end up dying. We also get a few shots of the countryside while the Shorty Squad ride the train.

Final Thoughts

Not only does this episode contain many references to previous episodes, it follows around the Shorty Squad, with Steven and Amethyst helping Peridot feel better. It also shows how Peridot feels after Lapis leaves taking the barn as well. It helps her get to be happier, but the episode shows how miserable she is because of this initially.

8/10
