Sonic Speeds into 2018
Sonic the hedgehog has had a troubling past, and while 2017 seemed to be going well with the release of Sonic Mania, but then Sonic Forces brought the series right back to where it was. However, Sega just revealed what’s happening with Sonic in the coming months, and the future is looking bright. But, what’s making this year different from others?
Sonic Mania Plus
Sonic Mania, the highest rated Sonic game in 15 years, is still growing, this time with an updated physical version. This is Sonic Mania Plus, which features a new Encore mode with remixed stages, a four player competition mode, and two new additional characters. Those characters are Mighty the Armadillo and Ray the Flying Squirrel, who both first appeared in SegaSonic the Hedgehog. The game will cost $29.99 and will release sometime this summer.
New Sonic Racing Game
Yes, the surprisingly good Sonic racing games seem like they’ll be getting a new game soon. However, this may not be another entry in the Sonic and All-Stars Racing series, judging by the teaser. That’s because when the logo is shown, only the R is illuminated, and it looks the same as the one in Sonic R, which was Sonic’s first foray into the racing series. However, car engines can still be heard, meaning this could be a hybrid between the two series.
