Pokemon Sword and Shield Announced

Today is Pokemon Day, the day when Pokemon Red and Green were first released in Japan 23 years ago. Pokemon also decided to hold a seven minute Nintendo Direct today, and in it they revealed the newest Pokemon games, those being Pokemon Sword and Shield. So, what else was revealed in this mini direct?

Pokemon Sword and Shield are the newest Pokemon games and they’ll be on the Nintendo Switch. Get ready to traverse across the brand new Galar region, which seems to be based off of London. There were many new areas shown, such as towns, caves lined with gems and crystals, large cities, and many more environments.

The newest starters were also revealed. The grass type is named Grookey, and is a monkey. The fire type is the rabbit Scorbunny. Finally the water type is the lizard Sobble. You’ll choose one of these Pokemon at the beginning of your journey to take across the region, and find new Pokemon with.

You’ll be able to play Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield when they release worldwide in late 2019.
