Fans of the Pokemon series have loved the tradition of having the older games get remade for current hardware. The last games to get this treatment were Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire, which were remade into Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. So, now that the Nintendo Switch has been released, it’s time for some new Pokemon games to make their way up to the newest console. Yes, after all the fans have demanded it, Nintendo decided to remake…Pokemon Red and Blue, the games that started it all!

While many fans have been requesting for a remake of the fourth generation of games, Pokemon Diamond and Pearl, Nintendo has decided to ultimately ignore that request. In fact, Nintendo has stated that no fourth generation Pokemon will even appear in a new Pokemon game ever again. They’ve also sent out a team of elite agents to confiscate every copy of any fourth generation game. They will then refill the hole where all the Atari ET games were found, as Pokemon Diamond and Pearl were the real worst games ever.

But getting to the remakes themselves, they’re called Pokemon Redrum and Pokemon Blueberry. So, what makes them different from the originals? Well, not much actually. In a bold move, you have to play through the games in their original graphics, then the Gameboy Advance remake graphics, and then you can play the game with new graphics, which were made for the 3DS. This choice will be very nostalgic for many players, because that’s what Pokemon games almost entirely rely on nowadays.

However, Nintendo has heard the complaints about the original Pokemon Red and Blue, and they’ve fixed the smaller ones, and just completely ignored the legitimate complaints. So, be prepared to travel through Kanto again with starter choices of Charmander, Charmander, and Charmander, because the other starters suck.

Nintendo knows that you’re foaming at the mouth to play these new games, so you’ll be able to later this year on September 31st. So get ready to go back to the place where Pokemon began, because it’s gonna be another 14 years before they get another remake.
