Mega Man X Legacy Collections Details Revealed
Even though Mega Man’s 30th anniversary was back in 2017, 2018 seems to be the year of new Mega Man games. Not only do we have the original Mega Man Legacy Collections being ported to the Nintendo Switch, and the all new Mega Man 11 later this year, but we now have details about the previously revealed Mega Man X Legacy Collections.
Because there are two Legacy collections, the X games were split evenly between the two collections. This means that the first collection has X1 - X4, and the second collection has X5 - X8. While the first collection has the objectively superior games, both collections have enough extra features to validate a purchase of both games.
The first big feature is the new High Resolution filter, which gives all games a modern update. While it doesn’t look great on the 16-bit games, it definitely helps the aged graphics of X7 and X8.
But when you’re not playing the games, you can explore the history of Mega Man X through concept art, illustrations, a music player, The Day of ∑ movie that gives the backstory of Sigma, a trailer collection, and a product gallery for 25 years worth of merchandise.
However, there was one more brief announcement, X Challenge. This mode has you taking on two bosses at the same time, and they don’t have to be from the same game.
And finally, we got the release date. Yes, you will be able to play the Mega Man X Legacy Collections this summer when they release on July 24th.
