Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Information
The titular Mario Kart 8 is going to be returning on the Nintendo Switch, but with some updates. All of the DLC from the original will be packaged in, as well as some new content. This includes new characters, stages, and a brand new battle mode.
Characters
The new characters include the Inkling Boy and Inkling Girl from Splatoon, and both bring new karts. We also have the return of King Boo, Dry Bones, and Bowser Jr. This makes the roster have 40 characters.
Stages
There are now 48 stages, the most in any Mario Kart game. The newest stages are for Battle Mode though. They are Battle Stadium, Sweet Sweet Kingdom, Dragon Palace, Lunar Colony, Wuhu Town from Mario Kart 7, Luigi’s Mansion from Mario Kart: Double Dash, Battle Course 1 from the original Mario Kart, and Urchin Underpass from Splatoon.
Battle Mode
Some classic items return for the battle mode. First off is Boo, who turns you invisible and lets you avoid any attacks, and it steals another player’s item. Feather also returns, to jump around or steal balloons from others.
There are a few different game types in battle mode now. First is the classic Balloon Battle, where you pop the most balloons to win. Renegade Roundup, a more that is cops and robbers, but with boomerangs and piranha plants. Bob-omb Blast, an explosive mode where the only items are bombs. Try to collect the most and lose the least coins in Coun Runners. Shine Thief, a game where you have to hold onto the shine sprite for 20 seconds to win.
Other Features
You are now able to hold two items at once, but you must use the one you got first before your second. There is also now a steering assist that will make it so you don’t fall off of the track.
