The Halloween series is one of the most complicated in regards to continuity, with 10 movies, two of which are remakes. The eight original movies not only have deaths and resurrections for both Laurie Strode and Michael Myers. There is also the problem of Halloweens 4, 5, and 6 being erased with the release of H20.

However, John Carpenter has recently talked about the placement of the 2018 Halloween movie. He has stated that it ignores all Halloween sequels, including the famous Halloween II, which revealed Michael was Laurie’s brother. This may have been the best course of action, because Halloween II does a good job at killing off Michael and Dr. Loomis, until the power of money brought them back to life.

The new Halloween movie is effectively hitting reset on the entire series. The movie is set to premiere on October 19, 2018. It will star Jamie Lee Curtis back in her role as Laurie, joined by Judy Greer as her daughter Karen. Will this timeline destruction be the right move for the series’s 40th anniversary?
