Five Nights at Freddy’s Sister Location Review

(WARNING: This review will spoil the basic ending for Five Nights at Freddy’s Sister Location.)

The Five Nights at Freddy’s franchise is a point and click horror series with five core games and one spinoff. The game that will be reviewed today is the sixth installment in the series, Five Nights at Freddy’s Sister Location. This game was a particularly big milestone as the creator, Scott Cawthon, had used the same gameplay for the first four games, while changing the setting. However this game goes back to a similar setting of the first two games, but changes the gameplay.

Story

You are an employee at a birthday party building that rents out animatronics for private parties. You go there at night to make sure that all of the animatronics are ready for the next day. You need to make sure that they’re on their stages, but as nights go on things get harder. You end having to hide from them, turn on the power, fix them, and end up freeing one. The one you free is called Baby. She helps you through earlier nights, but betrays and kills you so she can get here own freedom.

Gameplay

The gameplay in Sister Location is the best in the series. Each night you’ll have to switch between different gameplay types, but all are easy to use. The different types are very fun, and sometimes frustrating, to use, but something that leaves a bad taste in my mouth is that there is no point in which all or even a few of the gameplay types come together to provide a real challenge.

Final Thoughts

I think that Five Nights at Freddy’s Sister Location is the strongest game in the series as of now. It has a more complex base story, and adds a lot to the convoluted lore. It also adds the most engaging gameplay of the series to date, and lets you do the equivalent of a night in the original games in an Easter egg. It also brings new and gladly appreciated features to the table such as voice acting and comic relief. I do feel that it is to fast and easy for the established formula of the Five Nights games, but it prolongs its time by making you have to find its secret hidden ending, which wraps up the story more than the basic ending, but still leaves you with many questions.
