Doomsday Clock has had some insane delays, but now, the second to last issue has been released. However, while the delays may have been annoying, the story has only been ramping up, as seen with issue #9 having the heroes take the fight to Dr. Manhattan. So, does Doomsday Clock #10 continue the story escalation from before?

Doomsday Clock #10 delivers some much needed backstory to not only this story, but also the entirety of DC Rebirth. It details Dr. Manhattan’s arrival to the DC Universe, and explains how and why he changed history. This issue does really well explaining this history, and is great for anyone looking to understand current DC history.

The writing is pretty great in this issue, as it both perfectly reflects Dr. Manhattan and Superman’s effects on the overall multiverse. It helps show how the multiverse reacts to different changes such as Crisis on Infinite Earths and Flashpoint. This is an easy explanation of the overall multiverse that’s written in a way that anybody with a basic grasp on these concepts will understand the implications of Dr. Manhattan’s actions.

On the art side of things, Gary Frank and Brad Anderson kills it yet again. With the different points in the multiverse being explored, it’s great seeing these different groups and people in modern art. The Justice Society of America and Legion of Superheroes all look great, and it’s interesting seeing them after so long of them being out of print.

Doomsday Clock #10 is another great issue to the series, and this one has a good balance of necessary backstory as well as pushing the story forwards even closer to its climax.
