While Avengers: Infinity War had almost all of Marvel’s superheroes, some of the smaller heroes were left out, those being Ant-Man and the Wasp. And know, we finally know what they were doing during that time. So, did Ant-Man and the Wasp have a valid reason for not facing off against Thanos?

Story

After Captain America: Civil War, Scott Lang was taken to prison for helping fight Iron Man. However, since Scott has a family, he took a deal to go on house arrest for two years. But just three days before the end of his sentence, Hank Pym and Hope Van Dyne reach out to him for help.

Presentation

While Ant-Man had many great scenes involving regular places being super sized, Ant-Man and the Wasp figures out how to have a good balance of big and small, as well as change the size of things without the viewer knowing. The Quantum Realm is also revisited, and the visuals are as trippy as ever. The fight scenes also use the size changing to create more interesting scenes than the standard karate fighting affair. Plus, Ant-Man and the Wasp is one of the funniest MCU movies yet. Whether it’s drawn out jokes, returning bits, or even the quips, this movie will have your sides hurting by the end.

Final Thoughts

After the more serious tone of Avengers: Infinity War, it’s good to have another fun, lighthearted Marvel movie. The villain of this movie, while not one of the best, is still pretty good, and has a very sympathetic goal. Either way, Ant-Man and the Wasp manages to capture the fun of the previous movie, while expanding on all of the best parts, and subtly leaving hints for things that will affect the larger Marvel Universe.

8.7/10
