Ever since Splatoon 2 first released back in July, it has been consistently updated with new content including weapons, stages, and more. However, today we have been given the announcement of the largest Splatoon 2 update, including a plethora of new items and stages, but an additional way to personalize your Inkling.

First of all, Inklings have been given many additional hairstyles, allowing players to express themselves even more freely. There are new haircuts for both boy and girl Inklings, the first time an addition such as this has been added.

There are also going to be 140 gear items added to the game, in addition to new weapons. However, no knew gear or weapons were explicitly showcased, and will most likely be highlighted in future announcements.

One of the major updates is the sheer amount of stages that will be added. We were shown two of the new stages being added, and were told of two stages that will make their return from the original Splatoon. The first stage shown was Mako Mart, a large grocery store arena boasting one of the largest floor size out of every stage. The other new stage is Shellendorf Institute, a museum style stage with both an upper and lower level to fight on. The returning stages from Splatoon are Walleye Warehouse and Arowana Mall.

Keeping in line with new stages being added, the game mode Salmon Run is getting a new stage in Salmonid Smokeyard. This stage has a gap between the two upper platforms, and require the use of additional platforms to traverse between the two.

Two smaller updates also reveal that the level cap has been raised from level 50 to level 99, and players can revert back to level ★1 to continue leveling up again. Splatoon Amiibo also have a new addition to their abilities. Before this update you could take pictures with them in the main plaza, but this update will allow for pictures to be taken with these Amiibo on any stage at select spots.

And finally, possibly the largest part of this update, is the addition of a new ranked game mode. This game mode is called Clam Blitz, and has both teams running around the stage collecting small clams. The goal is to get 100 points by throwing the clams into the enemy’s basket. However, these baskets are covered by a barrier, which has to be broken by a Power Clam to score points. Players can get Power Clams after collecting 10 regular clams. The other way to get clams is by splatting an enemy carrying clams of their own.
